Thank you for joining us in Deadwood, South Dakota June 6-8, 2019! Just like in 2017 and 2018, we have created an entire weekend of fun and adventurous outings, and we hope you’ll be with us right from the start on Thursday morning. The link to reserve your hotel with our amazing room rates is at the bottom of this page.

For 2019, we’ve again reserved the amazing 13,000 square foot Deadwood Mountain Grand Event Center for the Book Fair. This year, everyone loved the hotel, guest rooms, casino, restaurants, bars, and especially the Event Center where the Book Fair, Breakfast With the Authors, and the Meet-and-Greet took place. And in 2019, we’ll be doing all those events again, and we’ve even found more to do in this gorgeous hotel, too!

To secure your spot at our exciting trips and events, please read through the descriptions then choose what you’d like to do on the widget below. Again this year, any tickets purchased are non-refundable, but you may sell and/or transfer them to other attendees if you find you are unable to attend.

Registration for Book Fair and Extra-Events

Reader Registration – Free

Please register each member of your group/family/entourage.
Anyone attending the Saturday Book Fair or any of the Legendary Events must be registered (it’s free) and you get:

  • Free neck wallet with nametag, event schedule, pen, and discount coupons
  • Free goodie bag at the Book Fair, sturdy, reusable cloth to fill with books, swag, and purchases from our exciting vendors
  • Free Memory Book listing all the authors with their photos, bios, book covers, and containing a space to have each author sign your book
  • Free seating chart so you may locate your favorite author at the Book Fair

Where: Event Center on the second floor, above the non-smoking casino of the Deadwood Mountain Grand
Format: Cash bar with light appetizers

Extra-Event Tickets

Tickets: Thursday Adams House Tea and Tour – $15

Only 20 tickets available for each tour!
(please secure one ticket for each person in your group)
Where: The Historic Adams House, 22 Van Buren St, Deadwood – a 7-minute walk from our hotel (0.3 mile)
Format: A tour of this beautiful home, then tea and cookies will be served. Built in 1892, the Queen Anne-style home is well-known for its oak interiors, hand-painted canvas wall coverings, stained-glass windows, thoroughly modern 19th century plumbing, electricity, telephone service, and original furnishings. The house sat silent for more than 50 years after W.E. Adams’ death in 1934. His second wife, Mary Adams, left everything intact, from the sheet music on the piano, the books in the library and the china in the pantry to the patent medicines in the bathroom, and even cookies in a cookie jar. The home was purchased by the Deadwood Historic Preservation Commission in 1992 and restored as a house museum in 2000.

Format: Learning sessions for authors and readers, and a mock book cover photo shoot by our official photographer for 2019, Killion Group

11:00 AM – 4:00 PM, Hour-long Learning Sessions to be announced

Tickets: Thursday Meet-and-Greet – Free

Where: Backstage Bar and Outdoor Deck with Stunning View of Deadwood – located in the Event Center on the second floor, above the non-smoking casino
Format: Cash bar with light appetizers
Agenda:
6:00 – 7 PM, Authors Only – meet each other and pick up your neck wallets, tickets, schedules, etc. Receive last-minute instructions/changes, and open question forum with the Hosts
7 – 9 PM, Readers, Cover Models, Author Assistants, Vendors, and Sponsors will join the authors

Tickets: Friday Multi-Stop Sightseeing Trip – $85

Where: Meet motorcoach at front door of hotel
Format: Motorcoach trip and ALL- INCLUSIVE sightseeing and meals

5:00 PM arrive at our Hotel in Deadwood

Tickets: Breakfast With the Authors from 8:30 – 10 am Saturday before the Book Fair – $18.50

(please secure one ticket for each person in your group who would like to enjoy breakfast)
Where: At the far end of the Event Center on the second floor, above the non-smoking casino (in the same room as the Book Fair)
Format: Buffet breakfast, round 8-person tables with linen and real plates, cups, and silverware
We hope you’ll come hungry! Here’s the buffet menu: Scrambled eggs, cubed breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, hickory smoked bacon or sausage links, fresh fruit, butter, fresh brewed coffee, hot water, ice water, and ORANGE JUICE sponsored by Linda Rae Sande.
(please note: if you prefer a beverage other than coffee, you’re welcome to bring your own. Hot water is provided if you’d like to bring your own teabag)
Readers are going to love sitting down with you for a few minutes before the book fair and saying “Hi.”

8:30 AM breakfast begins
9:40 AM authors called to the stage at the far end of the room for the 9:45 group photo (Authors, remember to eat early!)
9:50 AM photos finished so Authors have time to get back to their tables
10:00 AM breakfast ends, readers line up near the elevator/escalator/stairway for the official opening of the Book Fair

Tickets: Saturday Rodeo VIP Behind the Chutes Tour – $80

(please secure one ticket for each person in your group)
Where: Meet at front door of the hotel for shuttle service to the Days of ’76 Rodeo Grounds right in Deadwood!
Format: An early “VIP Package” including a fabulous Behind-the-Chutes Tour including live demonstrations and Q&A session, plus premium seating for the Rodeo.
Agenda:
4:30 PM board shuttle at our hotel
5:00 PM – 6:00 PM Behind the Chutes Experience  – VIP Group will have a meet and greet/open questionnaire with PBR bull riders, announcers, stock contractors and bullfighters. Going over equipment, experiences, stories, how a PBR event is put on or anything you want to know. Then the real behind the chutes! We will run a bull into the chutes and have the PBR Bull Riders show how they put their rope on and get ready to ride. PBR stock contractors will go over their procedure to show how they get their bulls ready and answer any questions you have.
6:00 PM Supper on your own (premium food vendors available under the grandstand, and restaurants in casino/hotels across the street)
6:30 PM – 7:00 PM Head to Premium Box Seats – VIP Group will have box seat seating on the main grandstand side, with brand new stadium seats. Best view in the house!
7:00 PM Rodeo Start Time
After Rodeo, board shuttle for the No. 10 Saloon (where the Rodeo participants go to party) for Rodeo After-Party, or take shuttle back to hotel

Tickets: Saturday Wild Book Readings at Wild Bill’s – $10

(please secure one ticket for each person in your group who will NOT be supplying a scene to be read)
To provide a scene from your book to be read (or to read it yourself) please secure a Sponsorship below
Where: Wild Bill’s Bar 624 Main St, Deadwood
Format: Cash Bar and Amazing Deserts from Local Vendors (including Chubby Chipmunk Chocolates)
Agenda:
7:00 PM meet at the upstairs room of Wild Bill’s Bar, 624 Main St, Deadwood
7:15 PM with a glass of wine and a plate full of extraordinary desserts, be seated at the bistro tables and enjoy authors reading intriguing scenes from their very own books
COSTUMES OPTIONAL for Readers and Authors!

Tickets: Pre-sale BONUS Raffle Tickets for Giant Basket Raffle to support the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary – $10

Show your support for this amazing refuge for Mustangs and other horses.
Tickets are also available the day of the event
Presale ticket BONUS: 30 tickets for $10 (at the event, tickets will be 20 tickets for $10, or 1 ticket for $1)

Send in or bring your gift or gift bag to Wild Deadwood Reads and we’ll place the item on the author’s Book Fair table.
