Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, 2020 WDR had been postponed. Below are the schedules events we had planned for 2020. We hope to have all these same exciting for 2021 but will be waiting until winter to finalize. We want to make sure everything is safe covid-wise. Stay tuned for exciting news about next year!
Thursday Learning Day
Where: Room TBA at Mineral Palace Hotel and Gaming 1 p.m. until 5 p.m.
Format: Learning sessions for authors and readers.

Class: HEIRLOOMS: CREATIVE LIFE WRITING WORKSHOP
Oral storytelling is common in every culture, but recording our cherished life memories onto paper is essential for preserving these stories. Writing your life stories is not only therapeutic, but it is an heirloom for your family and friends. This creative writing workshop is meant to inspire nonfiction and fiction writers alike. It will provide the opportunity for participants to pen their life memories through sensory detail and emotional exploration. For fiction writers, we’ll also take time to explore how real life memories and events can influence your stories. Please come to the workshop ready to do some writing. Bring a notebook, pen/pencil, and an open mind.

Friday Multi-Stop Sightseeing Trip
Where: Meet motorcoach at the front door of the Lodge at Deadwood.
When: 7:45 bus leaves at 8:00 am
Format: Motorcoach trip and ALL- INCLUSIVE sightseeing and lunch
Travel through Spearfish Canyon and the beautiful Wyoming countryside.
Devil’s Tower National Monument from 9:30am to 11:00am. Bring your walking shoes if you want to walk around our national’s first national monument.
Lunch at Longhorn Saloon & Grill, Sundance,WY 11:30am to 12:30pm. Choice of Kickin’ Tip Sandwich, WYO Pulled Pork Sandwich, or Garden salad with dressing. You will choose your option when you order tickets so that it will be ready for you when we arrive.
Drive to Sturgis, SD 12:30 to 1:30pm.
Tour and shopping at one of Sturgis’ most famous stops, the Full Throttle Saloon from 1:30 pm to 3pm.
Arrive back in Deadwood around 3:30pm.

Friday night Wild Book Readings
Where: Mineral Palace Hotel and Casino banquet room, 601 Historic Main Street, Deadwood, SD.
Format: Cash Bar and Amazing Deserts from Local Vendors (including Chubby Chipmunk Chocolates)
7:15 PM with a glass of wine and a plate full of extraordinary desserts, enjoy authors reading intriguing scenes from their very own books

Breakfast With the Authors from 8:30 – 10 am Saturday before the Book Fair
Format: Buffet breakfast, round 8-person tables with linen and real plates, cups, and silverware.
We hope you’ll come hungry! Here’s the buffet menu: Scrambled eggs, cubed breakfast potatoes, biscuits and gravy, hickory smoked bacon or sausage links, fresh fruit, butter, fresh brewed coffee, hot water, ice water, and ORANGE JUICE sponsored by Linda Rae Sande.
(please note: if you prefer a beverage other than coffee, you’re welcome to bring your own. Hot water is provided if you’d like to bring your own teabag)
8:30 AM breakfast begins
9:40 AM authors called to the stage at the far end of the room for the 9:45 group photo (Authors, remember to eat early!)
9:50 AM photos finished so authors have time to get back to their tables
10:00 AM breakfast ends, readers line up near the elevator/escalator/stairway for the official opening of the Book Fair

Saturday Multi-Author, Multi-Genre Book Fair
Where: The Lodge at Deadwood Ballroom
Format: Authors and Cover Models excited to meet you, share their swag with you, and talk about their books. Cover models available for photos!
10:00 AM Readers line up outside the ballroom for the official opening of the Book Fair
2:30 PM Basket Raffle tickets drawn and winners receive their baskets
3:00 PM Book Fair Ends but Vendors available at their tables
3:30 PM Vendor tables close
Saturday Family Friendly Western Movie and Trivia Night
Location: The conference room – The Lodge at Deadwood
Time: 8 p.m.
Refreshments provided by the Sweet Clean Romance Authors. The movie is Disney’s Tall Tale staring Patrick Swayze, Scott Glenn and Oliver Platt. Check out the movie trailer here. After the movie enjoy Western movie trivia.
