The Fourth Annual Wild Deadwood Reads event in Deadwood, South Dakota in 2020 is sure to be as exciting as the first three events in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Our fabulous venue, the beautiful new Deadwood Mountain Grand, was everything we thought it would be, and more. And in 2020, we’re thrilled to bring you more authors, more events, and more opportunities to see the amazing sights in Deadwood and the Black Hills of South Dakota.
Our multi-author, multi-genre Book Fair is just one of the exciting events happening next June. We’ve got Wild Bill’s Days going on right in town, a basket raffle to support a local nonprofit organization, Breakfast With the Authors, a fun evening enjoying libations while listening to authors reading their favorite scenes from their books, and much more. Join us for a Legendary weekend!
About Wild Deadwood Reads
Your hosts, Ginger Ring and Linda Rae Sande, are authors. Authors who have each attended many, many, MANY book signings, fairs, and author/reader events. We learned the hard way what doesn’t work (and makes authors angry!) and what does work (and makes both the authors and the attendees smile!)
As true hosts, Ginger and Linda Rae take pleasure and pains to make every person they interact with on Wild Deadwood Reads a satisfied customer. This has given your hosts a sterling reputation in the industry, and as the authors and readers who participated in the June 2017, 2018, and 2019 events will tell you, Wild Deadwood Reads is a rising star!

Featured Event
Multi-Author, Multi-Genre Book Fair
Saturday, June 20th, 2020 from 10 am to 3 pm

The 2017 Wild Deadwood Reads Book Fair brought nearly 50 authors to Deadwood, and 2018 brought 70! What the authors said:
“This was my first year at WDR and I had a blast. The hotel was beautiful, the event staff knew what they were doing, and I even I had some local family come by to see me. Plan on making this a yearly event and hopefully do some of the extra things I missed this year.” Tawa Witko
“This was my first year at Deadwood and I felt a little overwhelmed and didn’t know where to start as I didn’t know anyone. The chatter on Facebook was helpful but still felt like I didn’t exactly know what to expect. The group was very friendly and turns out I didn’t need to worry at all. Very organized. Good turnout. Great sales. Not only that but we got some business from the local stores too (and we gave them our business too!) We will definitely attend future events.” Lisa Reinicke
“Wild Deadwood Reads was one of the best-run author/reader events I have attended. The chance to meet and interact with readers in a relaxed setting was the fantastic. Having dinner, drinks, going on ghost tours, train rides, and trips to Mount Rushmore were just a few of the events that bonded us, making the book signing on Saturday enjoyable. I, and everyone I talked to said they’d come back next year.” Tina Susedik/Anita Kidesu
“Wild Deadwood Reads is one of the best small conferences I have ever been to. Set in historic Deadwood, South Dakota, you are surrounded by amazing history and breath-taking scenery. But the best part is being able to enjoy all the event experiences with other authors and readers together! 2018 WDR- you can bet I’ll be there!” ~Amanda McIntyre, Bestselling author-Storyteller at Heart.
“WDR was a wonderful, unique experience. I loved the intimacy of the conference and the many opportunities to meet and talk to readers, as well as other authors. The events were awesome. I’m looking forward to next year!” E.E. Burke
“I really enjoyed the Wild Deadwood Reads event, and as a Deadwood resident, want to warmly thank all the authors and readers that made the day so special for our community and state. Congratulations to all the organizers and volunteers for the hard work and dedication, you all rule! Best wishes to all.” Kirby Paul Anderson
“The Wild Deadwood Reads was a fun and exciting event. It was great to be around other authors and the readers were amazing.” Laura Garris
Your event was so fun and well planned, I enjoyed it completely. And Deadwood is a great little town! But it is with regret that I cannot attend the 2018 due to some personal issues. Please keep me on your email for 2019. I will miss all of you. I know you all work really hard and it shows in the organization. Have a great turnout and I will see you in 2019. Jordyn Meryl
“Wild Deadwood Reads was a fantastic event! The games, events, and readers were all fun! I enjoyed meeting the other authors and readers who had never attended an event like this before. It was magical for reader and author alike.” Paty Jager
“This was the best reader/author event I’ve attended. Well organized, very well publicized, and super reader and author friendly.” Lynda Cox
